Good thing is that I actually go and visit these places. I can't believe how Manchester has changed over the years - I used to go there when I was growing up in Liverpool - and I was there last year talking to schools.
So, a BIG Thank You to Cumbria for putting me on that list. I hope I get to go up there at some stage as it's a stunning place and I think it might even have heavier rainfall than Dartmoor - if that's possible.

I am a 48yo old mum who still reads to her 12 yo boy who hates to read for himself. I bought this book as I was intrigued by the back blurb. I read it for myself first and could not put it down. I read a lot of.. lots of junior fiction and this would have to be right up there with the best of them. It deserves every medal, award and nomination it deserves. Your first novel too - can't wait for the next one.

That's a great comment, thanks. I'm obviously really keen to get boys and girls to read my DangerZone series and I'm pleased to say we seem to be getting there. What's also very encouraging is that mums and dads are also enjoying the book. It's really important to get parents to read to their kids, and I'm pleased to say we're also getting boys and girls reading The Devil's Breathto their friends who might need a bit of help.
'Ice Claw' is book two in Max Gordon's adventure and is out end of June 2008. Hope you like it!
